Full job description

Role Summary

The Team Leader / Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of production, bottling and canning activities within the distillery. The role provides operational leadership across production lines, coordinates labour and resources, supports machinery readiness, and ensures production targets are achieved in line with company procedures and compliance standards.

The position works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and senior management teams to maintain operational performance, product quality, safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

· Execute daily production and canning plans in line with operational priorities

· Coordinate labour deployment across production activities

· Monitor production performance and escalate operational issues where necessary

· Complete production reporting and documentation accurately and on time

· Carry out pre- and post-production machinery checks and CIP processes

· Carry out line setup, changeovers, and production readiness activities

· Assist with scheduling routine maintenance around production requirements

· Perform basic ‘first fix’ activities to minimise downtime and maintain production flow

Team Leadership and Labour Management

· Complete all paperwork required for production activities, including pre- and postproduction activity

· Supervise, motivate, and support production operatives and agency staff

· Ensure all team members follow PPE, GMP, health & safety, and company procedures

· Support induction and training of new employees

· Identify development opportunities and provide coaching where required

· Verify agency labour hours and maintain accurate attendance records

· Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, quality, and safety

Quality, Safety and Compliance

· Ensure compliance with company quality, food safety, health & safety, and operational procedures in line with BRC and HACCP.

· Maintain accurate production and traceability records

· Complete all required production paperwork and system updates

· Support audits, inspections, and corrective action activities

· Report and record non-conformances in accordance with company procedures

· Work closely with Quality teams to maintain customer and business standards

· Protect the reputation and integrity of the business through high operational standards

Engineering and Continuous Improvement

· Work collaboratively with Engineering to communicate production priorities and maintenance requirements

· Support efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives

· Assist with identifying operational issues and opportunities for improved productivity

· Maintain good housekeeping and operational standards across the production area

Key Competencies and Experience

· Experience within a production or manufacturing environment

· Previous team leader or supervisory experience preferred

· Understanding of production line operations and machinery

· Ability to carry out basic machine troubleshooting and first-line fixes

· Good organisational and communication skills

· Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workloads

· Competent in Microsoft Office and production documentation systems

· Ability to build effective working relationships across departments

· Knowledge of compliance, quality, and health & safety procedures within manufacturing

Compliance Responsibilities

· Complete all required production and operational documentation accurately

· Follow company compliance, food safety, quality, and health & safety procedures

· Record and report non-conformances in line with company policy

· Participate in traceability, product recall, and audit activities where required

· Maintain good manufacturing and housekeeping standards at all times

Additional Responsibilities

· Support operational requirements outside of the normal role scope when required by the business

· Contribute positively to business improvement initiatives and operational efficiency
