Full job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a Field Service Generator Engineer to join our team, providing on-site technical support, maintenance, and repair services for our fleet of stage V generators. The candidate must be self-driven, well-motivated and an experienced engineer who can work independently and as part of a team throughout the north west, north east and UK wide.

Key Responsibilities

Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel generators of varying sizes
Carry out routine inspections and planned maintenance
Perform breakdown response and fault-finding on customer sites
Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with safety requirements
Provide excellent customer service and represent Summit Power professionally
Complete job sheets and service reports accurately and on time
Support the wider team when required, including depot-based tasks when appropriate

Desirable Skills (although training is available):

Installing, testing, and commissioning of new generators and associated equipment.
Completing service reports, and timesheets accurately and within set timeframes. Participating in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs.
Providing exceptional customer service and clear communication with clients and management.
Adhering strictly to health, safety, and well-being standards in all aspects of work. Relevant qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent).
Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical principles.
Proficient in the use of generator engine control panels (Deep Sea) and laptop-based diagnostic software.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites throughout the UK.
