Full job description

We're looking for a proactive and community-focused High Rise Support Caretaker to help make a real difference to the lives of residents living in our high-rise buildings.

This is a varied and rewarding role combining practical caretaking duties with resident support. You'll be a visible presence within our communities, helping to keep buildings clean, safe and welcoming while providing assistance to residents who may need a little extra help.

Working closely with the building safety team, wider housing teams, caretakers and resident groups, you'll play an important part in creating places where residents feel proud to live.

As our High-Rise Support Caretaker, you'll play an important role in helping residents feel supported while keeping our high-rise buildings clean, safe, and welcoming.

You will:

Provide a reliable waste assistance service for residents who need extra support.
Act as the eyes and ears of the building, identifying and reporting high-rise building safety concerns to the Building Safety Team
Carry out routine observations of communal areas and promptly report hazards, fire safety concerns, security issues, or other risks affecting residents and the building such as fly-tipping, repairs, or other concerns within communal spaces.
Support a strong safety culture by ensuring building safety concerns are escalated quickly and accurately.
Carry out a range of handyman tasks across our high-rise buildings.
Encourage residents to take pride in their surroundings and help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming communal areas.
Identify and report issues such as fly-tipping, repairs, hazards, or other concerns within communal spaces.
Work closely with housing teams, caretakers, contractors, and resident groups to continually improve the experience of living in our high-rise communities.
Be a visible and approachable presence within our buildings, building positive relationships with residents and providing support, guidance, and assistance where needed.

Resident engagement is a key part of this role, so we're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in their work, and is committed to creating a positive living environment for all residents.

You will be reporting to the Estate Services Manager and will be part of our Neighbourhood Services Teams.

We're looking for somneone who:

Enjoys working with people and providing excellent customer service.
Has practical maintenance or handyman skills.
Can work independently and use their initiative.
Has a good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
Is reliable, organised and takes pride in their work.
Is confident communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Can identify issues and ensure they are reported or resolved promptly.
Has a positive, approachable and solutions-focused attitude.

Experience in the following areas would be useful, but not essential, as full role specific training will be provided to right applicants.

Customer Service
Facilities Management and Caretaking
COSHH & H&S
Being self-motivated and able to prioritise workload.
Compliance activities, experience of completing testing of legally required systems and maintain records on our IT systems.
Supporting and working alongside contractors
Fire safety and fire alarm testing

We will provide training and support on high-rise building safety, relevant legislation, and operational procedures to help you succeed in the role.
