What is the role?

As our System Development & Application Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of Hafod's business systems and digital services. Leading our Systems & Applications team, you'll be responsible for the development, support, improvement and strategic direction of the systems that underpin services for colleagues and customers across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader who enjoys combining technical expertise, people leadership and business improvement. You'll work closely with senior leaders, system owners and external partners to ensure our technology landscape remains secure, efficient, innovative and aligned to Hafod's strategic ambitions.

This is a permanent full time 36 hrs opportunity with hybrid working pattern.

Please note: We're unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

The role will be based at St Hilary Court, Cardiff. However, as a service we operate a hybrid working model, combining remote working with time spent at our head office and other Hafod locations, depending on business needs.

We actively encourage our teams and leaders to spend time working alongside colleagues across the organisation in person, enabling strong relationships, greater visibility, and high levels of support for the services we provide

This role involves travelling independently across our sites and services as part of day-to-day duties.

Because of this, you’ll need to hold a full, valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle. You’ll also need appropriate insurance (for example business use).

What you’ll be doing

Lead and develop Hafod's Systems & Applications team, overseeing the full lifecycle of business systems from procurement and implementation through to ongoing support, enhancement and retirement.
Ensure business-critical systems remain secure, resilient and available, managing upgrades, supplier relationships, service performance and incident resolution.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance systems, digital processes, workflows and integrations that increase operational efficiency and service quality.
Partner with senior leaders, system owners and business teams to deliver technology solutions that align with organisational priorities and future strategic goals.
Manage contracts and supplier relationships, ensuring value for money, service quality and compliance with agreed service levels and organisational requirements.

What you’ll bring

We're looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking technology professional who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.

Experience leading IT systems, applications or software development teams within a complex organisational environment.
Strong knowledge of business systems, SaaS applications, system development lifecycles, integrations and digital transformation initiatives.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
Proven experience delivering technology improvements, managing suppliers and balancing operational priorities with long-term strategic objectives.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement and delivering user-focused solutions.

Ideally, you'll be educated to degree level in an IT-related discipline and have experience working with management information systems, CRM platforms and cloud-based applications.
