Part Time HR Manager – Balgove Larder (St Andrews)

Balgove Larder is looking for an experienced, proactive and people-focused HR Manager to join our friendly and ambitious team on a part-time basis.

Recent investments include a major extension to our award-winning butchery and the creation of a larger storage facility, enhancing our operations and supporting our long-term ambitions.

We're looking for someone who is excited to be part of this journey and who wants to contribute to our continued success whilst growing their own career.

As our HR Manager, you'll provide professional day-to-day HR support across the business, working closely with managers to develop our people, strengthen our culture, and ensure best practice across all areas of employment. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same, making it ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships and making a genuine impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice.
Partner with managers to develop high-performing teams through coaching, leadership development and practical people management support.
Develop and implement people development initiatives aligned with business objectives and future workforce capability.
Lead recruitment and onboarding, ensuring an excellent candidate and employee experience from attraction through to induction.
Design and coordinate structured learning and development programmes, identifying training needs and supporting career progression across the business.
Support performance management processes, including probation reviews, performance improvement plans, appraisals and personal development planning.
Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and investigations, providing balanced and commercially focused advice.
Ensure all mandatory training, compliance requirements and right to work checks are effectively managed and maintained.
Maintain and develop HR policies, procedures and documentation, ensuring they remain compliant and reflect business needs.
Oversee HR administration, payroll preparation and employee benefits in partnership with the Finance team.
Promote employee engagement, wellbeing and an inclusive, positive workplace culture across the business.
Work collaboratively with senior leaders to deliver strategic HR initiatives and support organisational growth and change.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a generalist HR Manager or HR Business Partner role.
CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience).
Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
Strong employee relations experience with confidence handling complex cases.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A positive, pragmatic and collaborative approach.
