Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a new Trustee to join our small board as a Volunteer Treasurer. You should have an understanding of finance to support other Trustees to understand joint financial responsibility of a charity, helping to set budgets and ensuring compliance with financial policies. Your proactive approach will help us achieve our charity aims effectively while promoting transparency and accountability. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute your accounting expertise and financial knowledge and make a meaningful impact within a passionate local charity.

Duties

Oversee our financial records using accounting software , Xero
Understand and present regular financial reports, including budgets, profit and loss reports, and balance sheets
Potentially become a Bank Signatory for the charity
Assist in developing annual budgets to support organizational goals
Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and reporting requirements
Collaborate with the board of Trustees to develop financial strategies
Be an active member of the Board of Trustees, contributing to all business but with a focus on finance.

Experience

Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the voluntary sector/charity sector.
Ideally, familiarity with accounting software Xero
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly to non-financial trustees
Prior volunteer or board experience is a plus but not required
