Full job description

Join Our Referral Management Team

Start or develop your career in healthcare administration with an opportunity to support the delivery of NHS referral services within a national healthcare organisation.

As a Referral Management Clerk, you’ll work within our Operations Directorate, supporting the delivery of our NHS Single Point of Access Referral Service and/or our Telemedicine Community Urgent Eyecare Service. You’ll help ensure referrals are managed accurately, safely and efficiently, while supporting patients, healthcare providers and internal teams.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, detail-focused, confident using IT systems, and motivated to provide a high standard of support within a healthcare environment.

Vacancies and Working Pattern

We are currently recruiting at least 3 Referral Management Clerks with varying availability, including full-time and part-time opportunities.

Working patterns may include:

5 days per week
3 days per week
Other part-time working patterns based on business need

Please note: all vacancies require Saturday working availability.

Final working patterns will be confirmed based on service requirements and candidate availability.

Salary

The FTE salary is £24,570 per annum.

Part-time salaries will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, depending on confirmed working hours.

Location

This is a hybrid role, combining home working with attendance at our Manchester Head Office in line with our hybrid working policy, subject to the successful completion of the probationary period.

What You’ll Be Doing

Coordinate and prioritise NHS referrals in line with service requirements
Manage NHS and PES inboxes, list allocation and referral monitoring
Support the oversight and management of eRS referral lists
Ensure daily referral management tasks are completed safely, accurately and in line with risk processes
Provide excellent customer service to patients, providers and stakeholders
Respond to enquiries through Help Scout and NHS email inboxes
Work collaboratively with the failsafe team to support accurate referral tracking
Support training, knowledge sharing and team development where required
Assist with data input, monitoring, reporting and process improvements
Support the mobilisation of new referral management services
Carry out other duties as required to meet service and organisational needs

What We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria

Minimum of 12 months’ administration experience
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to think logically
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications
Experience of working from home and managing time effectively
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and the ability to process data accurately
Ability to manage priorities and work effectively under pressure
A caring and empathetic approach when supporting patients and stakeholders
Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive working practices

Desirable Criteria

Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics
Experience delivering NHS referral management services
Understanding of NHS eRS referral systems and NHS smartcard activities
Experience supporting service improvements or new initiatives
