Part-Time Customs Clearance Assistant

Location: Rainham, Kent (not Essex)

Working Arrangement: Part-time office-based position at our Rainham, Kent office. This is not a remote or hybrid-working role.

Working Hours: 20 hours per week

· Wednesday: 09:00 - 16:30

· Thursday: 09:00 - 16:30

· Friday: 09:00 - 14:00

Salary: National Minimum Wage (age dependent)

Established for over 15 years, UK Import Services Limited is a well-established customs clearance and international trade services provider based in Rainham, Kent. We assist businesses and private individuals with customs clearance, shipping and international trade requirements and have built a strong reputation for providing reliable, professional and customer-focused services.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Customs & Administration Assistant to join our small, friendly team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in customs clearance and international trade. No previous customs or shipping experience is required, as full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will initially assist with preparing and processing UK Customs declarations for goods arriving into Great Britain, together with associated Safety & Security declarations. As experience is gained, training will be provided in other areas of customs clearance and international trade, including declarations for goods moving between Great Britain and Ireland.

There may be opportunities for additional hours as the successful candidate gains experience and the needs of the business grow.

Main Responsibilities

· Preparing and processing UK Customs declarations using HMRC's Customs Declaration Service (CDS).

· Preparing Safety & Security (ENS) declarations.

· Assisting with customs declarations for goods moving between Great Britain and Ireland (ICS2).

· Accurately inputting customer and shipment information.

· Communicating with customers by telephone and email.

· Maintaining accurate electronic records.

· Assisting with general office administration as required.

About You

Essential Requirements

· Good general computer skills.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Good written and spoken English.

· A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

· Good organisational skills.

· Ability to work accurately under pressure.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.

Desirable (but not essential)

· Previous office administration experience.

· Experience of data entry.

· Experience within shipping, logistics or customs.

No previous customs experience is required as full training will be provided.
