IT Support Technician

Reports to: IT Operations and Business Technology Lead

Role Overview

As IT Support Technician, you'll keep the people, devices and systems behind a fast-moving business running day to day — from setting up workstations and supporting Microsoft 365 to managing identity and access and being the first port of call when something breaks.

You'll report to the IT Operations and Business Technology Lead within Operations, balancing hands-on support and ticket resolution with the improvement work that keeps our systems secure, well-documented and ready to scale.

You'll also take personal responsibility for working within our security and GDPR obligations — protecting team and member data, keeping our systems and interfaces secure, and handling personal information correctly in everything you touch.

Responsibilities

Own incidents and service requests end to end — raising, troubleshooting and resolving them independently and with prompt response
Keep stakeholders updated daily on outstanding work items and progress
Install, configure and troubleshoot both Apple and Microsoft-based workstations, Microsoft 365 applications, both on-site and remotely
Administer and review identity and access management in Microsoft Entra
Administer and support the business's tool platforms, covering both users and configuration
Maintain IT infrastructure and assets so every device is up to date, secure and working as expected — including stock and inventory of laptops, desktops, monitors and mobile devices
Monitor and improve asset and policy management across the infrastructure
Review and uphold security best practice across the business
Identify and deliver improvements across systems and processes, and document them clearly for both technical colleagues and non-technical internal customers
Get stuck into core business projects alongside the wider IT team — sharing what you know and picking up new skills as we grow

Skills and Experience

Essential

Demonstrable experience with hands-on desktop support, both on-site and remote
Proven experience managing and actioning service requests in a timely manner
Proficiency administering Microsoft 365 implementations
Ability to effectively identify, review, manage and prioritise multiple work items in a fast-paced environment
Self-starting and comfortable working without close direction — spotting what needs doing and getting on with it

Desirable

Understanding of core security fundamentals and effective security review of IT assets
Familiarity with PowerShell for queries and scripts (advantageous, not essential)
Understanding of IT networks in an office environment and effective review of communication between hardware and systems (advantageous, not essential)
Strong communication skills
