Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking to develop your career within a forward-thinking local authority?
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Building Surveyor to join our Housing Technical Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse housing portfolio, delivering repairs, improvements and compliance activities that make a real difference to tenants' homes.
As part of a supportive team, you will help ensure our housing stock remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
About the Role
As a Building Surveyor, you will provide professional surveying expertise across the Council's housing portfolio, supporting repairs, maintenance and improvement programmes.
You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking property inspections, condition surveys and technical assessments.
- Diagnosing building defects and recommending effective remedial solutions, including remediation of damp and mould.
- Preparing specifications, schedules of work and technical reports.
- Monitoring works to ensure quality, safety, value for money and timely delivery.
- Supporting annual works programmes valued in excess of £1 million.
- Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, CDM 2015, HHSRS, Awaab's Law and other statutory requirements.
- Supporting disrepair claims and providing technical reports where required.
- Using digital systems to undertake inspections.
- Providing technical advice to colleagues, residents and stakeholders.
About You
You will have:
- Experience in building surveying, repairs, maintenance, housing or asset management.
- Knowledge of building construction, building pathology and maintenance practices.
- Experience diagnosing defects and specifying remedial works.
- Understanding of Building Regulations, health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing contractors and delivering projects.
- Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and make sound technical decisions.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
Professional qualifications, membership of RICS/CIOB and social housing experience are desirable.
Additional Information
You must be fluent in the English language (as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
The role requires travel throughout the Borough and access to a vehicle to undertake property inspections and site visits.
