About CB Storyworks

CB Storyworks is an independent media and production unit focused on high-level factual content, serious journalism, documentary, media, and podcast projects.

About the Role

We are seeking a sharp, structured, and clear-thinking Administrative Assistant & Junior Researcher to support Executive Producer Malcolm Neaum in London.

This is an essential operational, administrative, and research execution role – assisting the physically disabled MD who needs support. This role has been running since 2019.

The person will act as a crucial human bridge between high-level ideas, background research, and daily action. You will support Malcolm to ensure projects move forward smoothly, information is cleanly structured, and executive workflows remain frictionless.

The ideal candidate thrives on clarity, organisation, and keeping operational systems running with discipline and precision.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks1. Executive & Operational Support

Calendar & Meetings: Schedule, set up, and coordinate meetings, phone calls, and Zoom sessions with precision on Malcolm's behalf.
Technical & Access Setup: Assist Malcolm with technology and meeting accessibility setups (including live captioning tools, TalkTime, call applications, and remote recording software).
Administrative Bridge: Convert Malcolm’s verbal ideas, meeting notes, and research summaries into structured action lists, clean schedules, and operational steps.
Daily Workflow Tracking: Maintain project “Situation Reports”, delivery plans, and short daily progress updates so Malcolm always has immediate visibility on active priorities.

2. Information Management & File Systems

Document Control & Archiving: Create, format, maintain, and archive structured document folders, tracking spreadsheets, databases, and lists. Understands Google Suite. Must be AI-embracing and wanting to learn.
Formatting & Consistency: Standardise and clean up incoming documents, notes, and research materials to ensure consistent naming discipline and layout.
Task Monitoring/Organisation: Ensure assigned tasks across active projects have clear file locations, deadlines, status tags, and success measures.

3. Research Tasks

Targeted Research: Conduct factual, objective background research on experts, history, media contexts, and specific project subjects as instructed by Malcolm.
Contributor Sourcing & Verification: Source, verify, log, and cross-check precise contact details for prospective program contributors, industry figures, and specialists.
Employment Sourcing: Research and track relevant job leads and industry contacts and help with CV submissions.

Clear-Thinking & Grounded: Calm under pressure, switched-on, self-motivated, and capable of operating without constant supervision or narrative drift.
Disciplined Executor: High attention to detail, excellent written communication, and genuine pride in tidy, structured formatting and task completion.
Intellectually Curious: Engaged by serious factual subjects (history, media, documentary, politics) and able to grasp complex contexts quickly.
Practical & Solution-Oriented: A natural organiser who reduces friction, solves small administrative hiccups, and keeps projects moving forward.

Requirements & Essential Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills. You will often be the face of the company and dealing with important people.
High proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom.
Demonstrated ability to conduct precise online research and verify data accurately.
Strong organisational, calendar management, and folder structuring skills.
Experience supporting senior executives or working within media, TV, podcasts, or research-heavy environments is desirable.
