Full job description

Title: Part Time Charity Finance Officer

Salary: Between £28,000-£31,000 pro rota

Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Working Location: The New Croft, Chalkstone Way, Haverhill, CB9 0BW

Reporting to: Finance Manager

Job Purpose: To manage day-to-day financial operations of the charity, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and supporting effective financial planning and fundraising activities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records and accounting systems.
Process invoices, payments, receipts, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
Support grant applications.
Ensure compliance with charity accounting standards.
Assist with cashflow management and financial planning.
Support with finance related queries from staff, trustees, and funders.
Monitor and control outstanding debt.
Coordinate charity fundraising initiatives.

Person Specification

Key Skills and Experience Required – Mandatory

AAT Qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
Experience in bookkeeping.
Excellent attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
Strong IT Skills including Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Key Skills and Experience Required - Desirable

Experience of preparing grant applications.
Knowledge of Gift Aid.
Understanding of Charity Commission requirements.
Experience of supporting year end independent finance reviews.
