Job Overview

Senior Conveyancing Consultant Solicitor

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Conveyancing Consultant Solicitor to join and lead our growing conveyancing team. This is a senior consultancy position for a qualified solicitor with substantial residential conveyancing experience who can take overall responsibility for the quality, progression and supervision of the team’s conveyancing caseload.

The successful candidate will act as the senior legal lead for the conveyancing department, supervising cases from instruction through to completion, providing technical guidance to team members, reviewing files and documentation, and ensuring that all matters are handled efficiently, accurately and in accordance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive senior conveyancing professional who enjoys leadership, mentoring and maintaining high standards of client service while working in a flexible consultancy capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Take senior responsibility for the overall supervision and management of the conveyancing team and its caseload.
Oversee all conveyancing matters, including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and leasehold transactions.
Supervise and support fee earners and other members of the conveyancing team, providing day-to-day legal and technical guidance.
Review files, contracts, reports, searches, title documents and other legal documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Provide guidance on complex or high-risk conveyancing matters and assist the team in resolving issues efficiently.
Monitor the progress of all cases and ensure matters are progressing appropriately towards exchange and completion.
Ensure appropriate risk management, file management, client care and compliance procedures are followed across the department.
Conduct regular file reviews and quality checks to maintain consistently high professional standards.
Advise team members on legal, procedural and technical conveyancing issues.
Support the team with complex negotiations and communications with clients, estate agents, lenders, brokers, other solicitors and third parties.
Ensure searches, title investigations and other due diligence are completed thoroughly and potential issues are identified at an early stage.
Maintain oversight of workloads, deadlines and completion targets across the team.
Ensure all relevant SRA, AML, CQS and other applicable regulatory and professional requirements are complied with.
Keep clients appropriately informed and ensure a high standard of client service is maintained throughout the transaction.
Identify opportunities to improve systems, procedures and efficiency within the conveyancing department.
Work collaboratively with the firm's management and wider team to support the continued growth and development of the conveyancing service.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should have:

Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales with substantial conveyancing experience.
Strong experience in residential conveyancing, including freehold, leasehold, sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
Proven experience supervising, mentoring or managing other conveyancing professionals.
Strong technical knowledge of current property law, conveyancing procedures and regulatory requirements.
Excellent file management and quality-control skills.
The ability to identify legal and transactional risks and provide practical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to provide guidance to colleagues and communicate effectively with clients and external professionals.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple cases and competing deadlines.
Excellent IT skills and confidence using conveyancing case-management systems, digital platforms and online property/search services.
The ability to work independently and take responsibility for the overall performance and standards of the conveyancing team.
A proactive, commercially aware and client-focused approach.

Seniority & Leadership

This is not simply a fee-earning consultant position. The successful candidate will be expected to take a senior leadership role within the conveyancing function and will have responsibility for supervising the team's cases, supporting junior and senior fee earners, maintaining quality standards and providing oversight of the department's day-to-day legal work.

We are looking for someone who can provide strong professional leadership while remaining hands-on and approachable, ensuring that the team delivers efficient, compliant and high-quality conveyancing services to clients.
