Quality Control Supervisor/Manager

Our product range is diverse, encompassing conductive elastomers, EMC/environmental seals and gaskets, oriented wire materials, attenuated vents, and knitted wire products. Role Summary

As the QC Supervisor at Nolato PPT, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and execution of all inspection and testing activities on the shop floor. This is a hands-on supervisory role that bridges the gap between the Quality Assurance Manager’s strategic directives and the daily operations of the production lines.

Your primary focus will be to ensure that our range of EMI and Environmental sealing products are manufactured to exact engineering tolerances and quality standards. You will supervise the inspection team, manage daily throughput in the QC area, lead immediate troubleshooting efforts, and ensure that standard operating procedures are strictly followed to prevent non-conformances.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Floor Supervision

Daily Coordination: Supervise, schedule, and allocate tasks to the QC inspection team to support production workflows, capacity targets, and dispatch deadlines.
Performance & Training: Mentor and train operators and inspectors on measurement techniques, engineering drawings, and quality standards, ensuring standard work practices are maintained.
First-Line Escalation: Act as the first point of contact for production teams when quality issues arise on the shop floor, providing immediate technical guidance and decision-making.

Inspection & Testing Operations

Hands-On Inspection: Oversee and participate in first-off, in-process, and final inspection routines using precision metrology equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, durometers, digital measuring systems).
Product Testing: Ensure rigorous physical and electrical testing protocols are executed accurately, including volume resistivity checks, durometer testing, and dimensional verification against customer drawings.
Documentation Control: Maintain accurate, traceably organised quality logs, inspection records, and first article inspection reports (FAIRs).

Non-Conformance & Process Improvement

Defect Containment: Identify, segregate, and document non-conforming materials or products immediately to prevent them from reaching the customer or advancing down the production line.
Root Cause Analysis: Complete Root Cause Analysis investigations by gathering floor data, taking measurements, and tracking down historical batch records for 8D report completion.
Client Contact: Liaising with client throughout any QC issue providing appropriate resolutions and reports.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify shop-floor process variations, bottlenecks in the inspection area, or recurring defects, suggesting practical improvements to reduce waste and boost "Right First Time" metrics.
SOP’s: Ensure all SOP’s are up to date and adjusted accordingly.

Workplace Standards & Compliance

Equipment Calibration: Manage the calibration schedule for all shop-floor measurement gauges and testing equipment, ensuring absolute accuracy and compliance.
5S & Safety: Champion a clean, safe, and organised QC department, adhering strictly to 5S principles and environmental regulations (ISO 14001).
Audit Readiness: Ensure the shop-floor documentation and tracking mechanisms are always compliant and ready for internal or external ISO 9001 audits.
Audit Lead: Lead ISO 9001 and ISO14001 audits and reporting.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Experience & Knowledge

Supervisory Track Record: Proven experience leading or supervising a small inspection/QC team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Technical Literacy: High proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and geometric tolerances.
Metrology Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience using traditional precision measuring instruments and material testing equipment.
Process Awareness: Familiarity with component assembly, polymer moulding, extrusion, seals & gaskets or EMI shielding is highly advantageous.

Key Skills

Organisational Skills: Able to manage multiple competing priorities on a busy shop floor while keeping an eye on detail and accuracy.
Effective Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to constructively feedback quality issues to operators and collaborate effectively with production manager, office and sales teams.
Problem-Solving Focus: A practical, logical approach to diagnosing issues and implementing immediate, standard containment actions.
