About Us

HGV Direct Ltd are a growing business specialising in the retail trade of motor vehicle parts and accessories. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and customers, and operating an efficient finance function that supports the business.

This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in finance while gaining practical workplace experience and studying towards a recognised accounting qualification.

The Role

As a Sales Ledger / Finance Apprentice, you will work closely with the Finance team to support the day-to-day running of the accounts department. You will develop valuable skills in sales ledger, credit control, financial administration and accounting processes while working towards your apprenticeship qualification.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintain and update customer accounts within the accounting system.

· Allocate incoming customer payments.

· Assist with credit control activities, including contacting customers regarding overdue invoices.

· Reconcile customer accounts and resolve invoice queries.

· Process credit notes and account adjustments where required.

· Support bank reconciliations and cash posting.

· Assist with month-end finance procedures.

· Maintain accurate financial records and electronic filing systems.

· Handle incoming finance-related telephone calls and emails professionally.

· Work with colleagues across the business to resolve customer account queries.

· Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.

· Undertake general administrative duties to support the Finance department.

What We’re Looking For:-

Essential:

· A genuine interest in finance and accounting.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Good organisational and time management skills.

· Ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.

· A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

· GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above.

Desirable:

· Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

· Previous customer service or office experience (not essential).

· An interest in the automotive industry.

What You’ll Learn:

During your apprenticeship you will gain experience in:

· Sales Ledger management.

· Credit Control.

· Financial administration.

· Accounting software and finance systems.

· Reconciliations and cash management.

· Financial reporting and month-end processes.

· Professional communication with customers and suppliers.

· Business administration and teamwork.

You will also work towards a recognised Finance or Accounting Apprenticeship qualification, supported by an approved training provider.
