We are looking for a dedicated, reliable and quality-focused Decontamination Services Technician to join our Flexi-Bank Team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a vital service that supports patient safety and clinical excellence by ensuring reusable medical devices are decontaminated, processed and available for use across the hospital.

As a Decontamination Services Technician, you will work as part of a professional team responsible for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes, contributing directly to the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

About the role

Work as part of a team providing a controlled decontamination service, reprocessing reusable medical devices for Benenden Hospital.
Contribute to patient care by achieving high standards of excellence throughout all decontamination processes.
Accurately record information to maintain a full tracking and traceability system.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and internal customers to prioritise workloads and meet service requirements.
Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Quality Management System at all times.
Reprocess reusable surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes, including:
- Receipt and disassembly
- Manual cleaning
- Automated wash-disinfection
- Inspection and functionality testing
- Assembly and packing
- Sterilisation and dispatch
Safely operate decontamination equipment and perform routine daily testing in accordance with planned preventative maintenance and periodic testing schedules.
Utilise electronic tracking and traceability systems to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
Plan and prioritise workload effectively, balancing departmental requirements with the needs of internal customers and patients.
Report resource shortages or issues to the Deputy Decontamination Services Manager or Decontamination Services Manager.
Accurately and promptly report equipment breakdowns, non-conformances and incidents, supporting investigations where required.
Communicate professionally and effectively with hospital colleagues and internal customers, seeking advice and support when needed.
Contribute to the development of best practice, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Undertake duties appropriate to the role and grade, in line with service requirements.

Skills and experience required

Be committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and attention to detail.
Have experience working within a decontamination, sterile services, healthcare or similar regulated environment (desirable).
Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Be able to follow procedures accurately and consistently.
Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Have a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Be committed to delivering an exceptional service that supports patient care and hospital operations.
