Full job description

The Opportunity

Mathnasium is the world's leading specialist maths learning centre, with over 1,000 centres worldwide. We help children of all abilities develop strong maths skills, grow in confidence and enjoy maths.

We're opening a new Mathnasium centre in Bishop's Stortford and are looking for an ambitious Management Trainee to help launch and grow the business.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining working directly with students, customer service, centre operations, team leadership, sales and local marketing. You'll work closely with the Centre Owner and receive comprehensive Mathnasium training, with the opportunity to take on increasing management responsibility as the centre grows.

For a high performer, there is potential to progress to Centre Manager as the business expands.

Key Responsibilities

Work directly with students, delivering the Mathnasium method and helping them develop confidence and mastery in maths.
Deliver exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with parents and families.
Support student assessments and communicate progress confidently with parents.
Help recruit, train, coach and lead our team of instructors.
Support new student enrolment, retention and centre growth.
Help manage the day-to-day operation of the centre.
Support local marketing and build relationships with schools and the wider community.
Maintain accurate records and support business administration and reporting.

About You

We're looking for someone bright, ambitious and energetic who genuinely enjoys working with people and wants to make a difference to children's lives.

Essential:

A Level Maths (or equivalent/higher qualification) is a minimum requirement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confident and professional communicating face-to-face and on the phone.
A genuine passion for working with children and helping them succeed.
Proactive and able to use your initiative, solve problems and get things done.
Highly organised, reliable and able to take responsibility.
A growth mindset - you welcome feedback, enjoy learning and want to continually improve.
Ambitious, hardworking and excited by the opportunity to help build a new business.
Enjoy working with children and their families.

Desirable:

Previous customer service, sales or education experience.
Previous experience supervising, coaching or leading others.

£25,000–£28,000 starting salary, depending on experience.

Hours

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week.

Initially, Monday to Thursday 10am to 7.45pm (1 hour unpaid breaks) and Saturday 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Employment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Expected start date: September 2026.
