Full job description

CB1 Medical is a private medical clinic specialising in the prescribing of cannabis-based medicines for patients with chronic pain and mental health conditions.

Our service is delivered remotely via telemedicine, supported by an experienced administration and patient support team. CB1 Pharmacy is our online dispensing partner, providing regulated private prescriptions including those issued by CB1 Medical and other UK clinics.

We operate within MHRA and GMC/NMC prescribing frameworks, with a strong focus on governance, safe practice and patient-centred care.

We are a fast-growing organisation operating across healthcare, pharmacy, technology and patient services. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Part-Time HR Manager to support our people, strengthen our recruitment processes and help managers handle day-to-day people matters confidently and consistently.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on HR role covering recruitment, employee relations, people processes and day-to-day support.

You will work closely with our leadership team and line managers across the business, providing practical advice and helping us maintain a fair, consistent and well-managed employee experience.

The role would suit an experienced HR generalist who enjoys working in a growing business, can bring structure without unnecessary bureaucracy and is comfortable moving between recruitment, employee support, policies and people projects.

This is an on-site role based at our Leicester office. This role will be supported by a part-time HR Officer/Administrator.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding

Manage the recruitment process from role approval and job advertising through to interviews, offers and onboarding
Coordinate candidate communication, interviews, references and pre-employment checks
Support recruitment across clinical, pharmacy, patient services, operations, technology and commercial teams
Coordinate Right to Work checks, references, DBS checks and professional registration checks where relevant
Review recruitment performance and identify ways to improve candidate quality, time to hire and the overall recruitment experience

Day-to-Day HR Support

Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers on general HR matters
Provide practical guidance on absence, wellbeing, conduct, performance, probation, flexible working and family-related leave
Support managers with employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances and performance concerns
Help managers address issues early, fairly and consistently
Support employee changes including promotions, changes to hours, salary amendments and contract updates
Coordinate offboarding, exit interviews and the return of company property
Escalate complex or high-risk matters to external employment law advisers or senior leadership where appropriate

Manager Support and Best Practice

Coach and support line managers to handle people matters confidently and in line with company policies
Provide managers with practical tools, templates and guidance for common HR situations
Support probation reviews, performance conversations and regular employee check-ins

HR Policies, Processes and Compliance

Review, maintain and introduce HR policies that reflect UK employment law and practical best practice
Ensure employment contracts, employee records and HR documentation remain accurate and up to date
Maintain confidential and audit-ready employee files
Monitor changes in employment law and recommend updates to policies and processes
Support the development of clear and proportionate HR procedures as the organisation grows
Coordinate with payroll and finance teams to communicate starters, leavers and employee changes accurately
Support workforce reporting including headcount, absence, turnover, vacancies and recruitment activity

Employee Experience and Development

Support initiatives that improve employee communication, engagement and retention
Help develop effective induction, training and manager development processes
Coordinate employee feedback exercises and help turn the findings into practical actions
Support the development of clear objectives and performance review processes
Identify recurring people issues or trends and recommend practical improvements
Contribute to wider organisational and people projects as the business continues to grow

About You

You will be a practical and approachable HR professional who is comfortable working independently and supporting people at every level of the organisation.

You will ideally have:

Broad experience in an HR Manager, HR Advisor, People Partner or senior HR generalist role
Strong experience managing recruitment and onboarding processes
Experience advising line managers on day-to-day employee relations and performance matters
A sound working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
Experience reviewing and implementing HR policies, processes and documentation
The confidence to handle sensitive matters calmly, fairly and discreetly
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
The ability to balance employee experience with the practical needs of the business
A proactive and solutions-focused approach
Confidence working in a fast-moving environment where priorities may change
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and HR systems

A CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be beneficial.

Experience within healthcare, pharmacy, a regulated industry or a growing operational business would be advantageous but is not essential.
