Job Overview

The Three Horseshoes, Bighton is an award-nominated, independently owned country pub located in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, just outside Alresford. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, seasonal British food with a modern twist, alongside carefully selected wines, local ales, and warm, genuine hospitality.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and ambitious Head Chef to lead our kitchen and help take our food offering to the next level. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with quality ingredients, creating seasonal menus, and leading a motivated team in a beautiful countryside setting.

What You'll Be Doing

Taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Leading, motivating, and developing the kitchen team to deliver consistently high standards.
Creating exciting seasonal menus, daily specials, and premium dining experiences while maintaining our popular pub classics.
Managing food preparation and service to ensure every dish is beautifully presented and delivered efficiently.
Maintaining excellent food quality, consistency, and portion control.
Managing stock, ordering, supplier relationships, and food cost control to achieve gross profit targets.
Ensuring full compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, and Health & Safety regulations.
Working closely with the General Manager and front-of-house team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Recruiting, training, and mentoring chefs and kitchen staff.
Maintaining a clean, organised, and professional kitchen environment.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Head Chef or an experienced Senior Sous Chef ready to take the next step.
A genuine passion for fresh, seasonal British food.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
Experience managing kitchen finances, stock control, ordering, and labour costs.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
A hands-on approach with exceptional attention to detail.
A commitment to delivering consistently outstanding food and service.
Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain).
