Job Purpose
The Mullany Fund (TMF) is an award-winning South Wales social mobility charity supporting young people aged 14-19 from disadvantaged communities to explore and progress into STEM higher education, apprenticeships and careers. We deliver an online STEM e-mentoring programme designed to widen access to opportunity and raise aspirations among young people who are currently underrepresented in STEM pathways. The candidate will assist in developing and expanding connections between disadvantaged young people, education providers and industry.
The Communication and Admin Support Officer role involves the day-to-day administration and communication of TMF’s e-Mentoring programme. Coordinating communications with schools, mentors and mentees, supporting recruitment and continued engagement of programme participants. The role holder will deliver a consistent and coordinated marketing presence across social media platforms, engage meaningfully in national conversations on social mobility, education and STEM. Other admin duties will include the ongoing maintenance of the centralised database to ensure that contacts and organisational knowledge are stored effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Administration and Communications
- Support recruitment and engagement of mentors and mentees
- Administer mentee / mentor registrations, induction of mentees, DBS checks of mentors
- Provide administrative support of TMF’s e-Mentoring session delivery
- Assist with the technical help-desk tasks e.g. supporting user platform access, spotting / reporting user issues
- Assist in collecting and collating stakeholder surveys i.e. mentee / mentor programme exit questionnaires
- Marketing and Digital Presence
- Support the development and growth of TMF’s profile as a leading voice in social mobility and e-mentoring by creating high-quality content, engaging with sector stakeholders, and building a strong social media following across education, industry and policy audiences.
- Sustain a consistent social media and digital presence across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook etc to raise awareness of the charity and its activities
- Create and share content that appeals to current and future mentees to highlight e-mentoring opportunities
- Information Management
- Support the ongoing development of the charity’s information database
- Ensure records of contacts, conversations and leads are stored securely so they can be followed up appropriately
- Undertake any other duties as required to support the charity’s mission and objectives
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English; A Levels and a Degree (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of social mobility issues and social mobility advocacy
- Experience of online marketing, particularly targeting youth engagement
- Strong organisational skills with excellent written and oral communication
- Experience managing structured information e.g. databases or shared drives, with strong attention to consistent naming and organisation
- Ability to work proactively, independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise competing demands and work flexibly
- Commitment to confidentiality, equal opportunities and professional standards
- Enhanced DBS check / willingness to obtain one for working with young people under 18
Desirable
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
