Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.

Job Introduction We’re recruiting a Senior Night Care Assistant to join our Supported Housing for Older People service, working 28.5 hours per week.
At Milton Keynes City Council, we’re committed to helping people live independently, safely and with dignity. Our Supported Housing for Older People service supports residents to remain in their own homes while receiving the care they need.
Courteneys Lodge provides 32 self-contained flats with 24-hour Care Quality Commission registered domiciliary care for older people living with dementia. You’ll join a supportive team helping residents live independently in a safe and welcoming environment.

This rewarding role is ideal for an experienced care professional who thrives at night, providing reassurance, support and high-quality care when it matters most.

As a Senior Night Care Assistant, you'll lead the night shift, respond to emergencies, support colleagues and maintain accurate care records. You'll play a key role in ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable and well supported.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a two-week rolling rota and consists of night shifts. The post is 28.5 hours per week working 3 x 9.5 hour shifts from 21.00-07.00hrs

Week 1: Night shifts on Wednesday and Thursday.

Week 2: Night shifts on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This post attracts a Level 3 Annual Working Payment (AWP) in addition to the basic salary.

Role Responsibilities

Provide overnight operational support and supervision to care assistants across supported housing schemes.
Deliver high-quality personal care that promotes dignity, independence and choice for older people, including those living with dementia, complex health conditions or receiving end-of-life care.
Monitor wellbeing, identify risks and respond appropriately to safeguarding, health and safety and welfare concerns.
Support tenants with mobility and moving and handling activities using appropriate equipment, including hoists and wheelchairs.
Take the lead during emergencies or crisis situations, liaising with healthcare professionals, emergency services and on-call managers when required.
Maintain accurate care records, contribute to care plans and risk assessments and provide clear handovers to colleagues and partner professionals.

Ideal Candidate

A full, clean UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle and business use insurance, enabling you to work across all three schemes when required.
Experience of supporting vulnerable adults within a health or social care setting and a sound understanding of person-centred care.
With a compassionate and caring approach, you’ll be able to build positive relationships and treat every individual with dignity, respect and kindness.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with tenants, families, colleagues and partner organisations.
Able to maintain accurate written and electronic records while understanding the importance of confidentiality and professional standards.
Committed to learning and professional development, with the willingness to complete mandatory training and apply learning to improve outcomes for residents.

Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use.
