Full job description

We are a fast-growing e-commerce and distribution business looking to expand our structured finance team. Sitting alongside our Finance Officer and Finance Executive, this role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to take ownership of core processes and gain deep commercial exposure.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, part - qualified finance professional to join our team for an office based position. Moving away from purely transactional data entry, this role is designed for someone who understands the business context behind the numbers. You will manage our day-to-day ledgers and bank processes while actively supporting the Finance Manager with month-end reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Invoice & Ledger Ownership: Independently manage the receipt, accurate coding, and recording of purchase ledger invoices, expense forms, and payment requests.
Three-Way Matching: Match complex invoices to supplier statements and purchase orders, proactively resolving any pricing or stock discrepancies.
Banking & Reconciliations: Maintain and reconcile Direct Debit mandates. Execute weekly online banking and petty cash reconciliations to ensure 100% accuracy.
Supplier Payments: Prepare accurate, timely payment runs for supplier approval.
Inventory & Returns Control: Manage and reconcile the returns and inventory processes, tracking supplier credits and stock adjustments.
Month-End Adjustments: Independently calculate and post routine journal entries, including prepayments and accruals.
Variance Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of departmental spending and activity, identifying and reporting on variances against expectations.

· Accounts Receivable: Ensure all customer payments are received accurately and on time, maintaining healthy cash flow and minimizing overdue accounts.

Process Improvement: Review current transactional processes and suggest software or workflow efficiencies to streamline operations.
Monthly Reporting : Producing comprehensive financial and operational reports, including 3PL performance, invoicing, debt collection, and returns transactions.

Requirements:

Professional Qualification: Fully Qualified AAT or Part Qualified CIMA/ ACCA
Experience: Minimum 3 - 4 years of experience working within a busy corporate finance or accounting department.
Technical Knowledge: Strong baseline understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles
Advanced Software Skills: Proficient in modern accounting systems and intermediate/advanced Excel skills
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise confidently with suppliers and internal departmental managers.

Pay: £34,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
