Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Till Assistant to join our retail team! In this energetic role, you will be the friendly face at the checkout counter, ensuring a smooth and efficient transaction experience for all customers. Your enthusiasm and organisational skills will help create a welcoming environment while maintaining accurate sales records. Bilingual abilities and strong communication skills are highly valued to serve our diverse customer base effectively. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your retail expertise, enhance your merchandising knowledge, and contribute to a vibrant shopping atmosphere.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases at the till, providing excellent phone etiquette when needed.
Scan items accurately, process payments efficiently, and handle cash, card, or digital transactions with precision.
Upsell products and promotions to maximize sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Maintain organized checkout areas, manage queues effectively, and ensure timely service during busy periods.
Support merchandising efforts by restocking shelves near the till and ensuring product displays are attractive and well-organized.
Communicate clearly with team members regarding stock levels, customer requests, or issues encountered at the register.
Handle customer inquiries professionally in multiple languages (including English and Spanish), demonstrating strong organizational skills and time management.

Qualifications

Previous experience in retail or cashier roles is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanour.
Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
Excellent organisational skills to manage checkout processes efficiently.
Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail during busy hours.
Knowledge of merchandising principles and upselling techniques is advantageous.
Demonstrated time management skills to prioritise tasks and serve customers promptly.
