About this Role

At Salisbury Road Primary School, we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Mealtime Assistant to join our friendly team and help make lunchtime a safe, happy, and enriching experience for every child.

This is more than just supervising lunchtime — it's about shaping positive experiences, supporting children’s wellbeing, and bringing our school values to life.

You will:

Create a safe, structured, and enjoyable dining and playground environment
Encourage healthy eating, good manners, and independence
Support children to play positively, build friendships, and feel included
Help ensure every child feels valued, cared for, and supported

From helping a child join a game to offering reassurance after a minor accident, your presence will be key in making lunchtime a highlight of the school day.

We’re seeking someone who:

Has a calm, caring, and friendly approach
Enjoys working with children and helping them thrive
Is reliable, flexible, and a strong team player
Understands the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality
Can confidently support positive behaviour and inclusive play

Experience working with children is desirable but not essential, and a first aid qualification would be an advantage (training will be provided).

Salisbury Road is two form entry primary school that serves the locality of St Judes, near the city centre. We are situated in a large, three-storey, Victorian building in the heart of the community, and work closely with many local partners.
