The Role
The EV Battery Dismantler is responsible for safe disassembly of electric vehicle (EV) battery packs and components for recycling, reuse, or further processing. This role requires strict adherence to high-voltage safety procedures, environmental regulations and quality standards while working within in a production and recycling facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Battery Disassembly
- Safely dismantle EV battery packs, modules, and associated components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
- Disassemble and separate battery cells, modules, wiring harnesses, cooling systems, casings and other components in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Identify and segregate and correctly handle reusable, recyclable, and hazardous materials.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all high-voltage safety protocols, including Lockout/tagout (LOTO), and battery de-energizing processes as trained and instructed.
- Always Wear and maintain the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (e.g., insulated gloves, eye protection, safety footwear, respirators protection where required).
- Comply with all company policies, environmental legislation, and health, and safety regulations.
- Quality & Documentation
- Accurately label, sort, and store dismantled components and materials.
- Record production information using paper-based or digital systems including batch numbers, serial numbers, material weights, and component condition.
- Report damaged, defective, or non-conforming materials to the supervisor.
- Equipment & Housekeeping
- Operate tools and equipment including torque wrenches, impact drivers, lifting devices, and hoists in according to training and SOPs.
- Carry out basic daily checks on tools, equipment and workstations; report any faults or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environments, ensuring materials, waste, and hazardous items are stored correctly.
- Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with technicians, engineers, and colleagues to achieve production, quality, and safety targets.
- Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute ideas to improve process, workplace ergonomics, efficiency, and waste reduction
Qualifications
Required:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, technical diagrams, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to health and safety.
Desirable
- Previous experience within automotive, EV, manufacturing, recycling, engineering or related industrial environments.
- Basic understanding of lithium-ion batteries, high-voltage systems, or electrical safety.
- Prior training or certification in high-voltage or live working safety, or hazardous materials handling.
- Experience handling hazardous materials.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental responsibility.
- Good manual dexterity and confidence working with tools and mechanical components.
- Ability to follow standardised processes accurately and consistently.
- Basic IT skills, including experience using tablets or computers for the production records and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills with the confidence to seek guidance when required.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Additional Information
- Full training will be provided on EV battery handling, high-voltage safety, hazardous material management, and company procedures.
- This role plays an important part in supporting the circular economy through the safe recycling and recovery of critical materials from electric vehicle batteries.
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime and occasional weekends may be required to meet production demands.
- Successful candidates may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and complete mandatory health and safety training before commencing employment.

Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
