Full job description

Job Title: Referral Team Leader

Base: Office-based (5 days per week)

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Responsible to: Business Development Director

Role Overview:

Referrals Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day quality output from the referral team coordinators whilst maintaining the accuracy of data and communications to customers Ensure all internal and external requests are responded to in a timely manner. Work closely with the Business Development Director to highlight successes and areas of improvement across the referral receipt to placement process and the partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

Referral Team Leader

· Deliver the efficient management of all referrals received direct from LA’s and through portals through to individual homes managing responsiveness and follow up actions.

· To provide referral volume insight, report on referral trends and provide daily live offer updates across the BD team and SLT

· Ensure all offer documentation and fees are 100% compliant and accurate – data capture, occupancy reporting, finance invoicing. This includes daily reporting

· To support the Referral Co-ordinators with their daily tasks

· To support all internal customers, predominantly Operational colleagues with referral insight, home responses to referrals and referrals to placement progress.

· Manage the referral inboxes and liaise with the LA’s for further detail to get the right child in the right home to maximise success for the child’s placement with us and enhance their life and development.

· Manage access to and responses for Portals, DPS and Framework groups

The above duties are a guide to the nature of the work required and are not intended to reflect all the tasks associated with the role.

Experience

Experience working in education, SEN, alternative provision, or children’s services
Experience handling referrals, admissions, or placement processes
Experience liaising with local authorities and external professionals
Experience managing confidential and sensitive information

Skills & Knowledge

Strong understanding of SEND, SEMH, or complex needs (depending on provision)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple referrals simultaneously
Good working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles
Competent IT skills (MIS systems, spreadsheets, databases, email)

Desirable Criteria

Experience working within an independent school or alternative provision setting
Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND Code of Practice
Experience preparing documentation for Ofsted or local authority audits
Relevant qualification in education, administration, or children’s services
