Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for two Learning & Development (L&D) professionals to join our team as we implement our new L&D approach and expand our operational training team. The successful candidates will be part of a busy L&D team, providing functional support to help the organisation deliver its strategic aims and corporate priorities.

Job description

Your day-to-day duties will be varied, allowing you to utilise your training experience and digital learning capabilities within a supportive team environment, while contributing to our key deliverables and goals. You will play an integral part in enhancing the learning and development experience across the organisation.

This role is based in the UK and sits within the People & Culture Directorate as part of the Learning & Development team.

Person specification

The ideal candidates will bring experience of working within a learning and development environment, delivering training activities both face-to-face and virtually, preferably in a hybrid-working context. They will possess a positive and solutions-focused mindset and as happy working within a team as they are independently. The successful candidate will be flexible in their approach and adaptable to provide the best solutions within scope. This role will have a positive impact to the work of the L&D team and some of our key priorities and deliverables. The role holder will have a L&D CIPD qualification or equivalent, or willing to undertake the qualification.

Our L&D team is based across the UK. This is a hybrid role, involving working from your nearest office location (Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Newcastle) and from home. Frequent travel to other offices and locations across the UK is to be expected.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £27,000, The National Lottery Community Fund contributes £7,821 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides .

Time off

The standard working week for full time staff is 37 hours, with a minimum 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day. We have a range of formal and informal flexible working options, and offer generous paid leave.

Generous annual leave

Annual leave is 25 days per year on joining The National Lottery Community Fund plus bank holidays, rising by one day every year of employment up to a total of 30 days. An additional three days of leave is given every year normally at Christmas. Your entitlement will vary according to your date of appointment, and is pro rata for part-time employees.

Financial

Salary progression is based on the percentage increase allocated by HM Treasury on an annual basis. In addition to your salary, we offer several financial benefits.

Pension scheme

The Fund operates 2 pension schemes, Alpha, our Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) and a Partnership Pension Scheme with Legal & General.

For Alpha, the employers contribution is between 26.6% and 30.3% and the employee contributions rates are between 4.6% and 8.05% depending on salary.

For Partnership, the employers contribution rate is between 8% to 14.75% of your earnings. You do not have to contribute to this scheme, but if you do, the Fund will match your contributions up to 3% of your pensionable pay.

Healthcare plan

We offer an inexpensive healthcare cash plan that looks after you and your family, providing a range of positive health and wellbeing benefits. Even better, it also takes care of the money side of things with cash payments towards costs such as dental and optical bills, prescription charges and even hospital stays.

Eye tests and glasses

All VDU users are eligible to a free eye test on appointment and at regular intervals thereafter. If as a result of the eye test you are prescribed special equipment or glasses for VDU use, we will pay the cost of basic lenses and frames within certain maximum limits.

Cycle2Work

To promote healthier journeys to work and support our social and environmental aspirations, we offer the chance to participate in the Government initiated cycle to work scheme. Bicycles are bought by us and loaned to you for a 12-month period, during which time you repay the amount via salary sacrifice, reducing your tax and National Insurance contributions.

Season ticket and rental deposit loan

Once you have worked with us for a month you are eligible to apply for an interest free season ticket loan of up to £5,000, or a rental deposit loan up to the maximum of one month's salary.

Give As You Earn

You can support your favourite charity or charities via the Give As You Earn Direct Donation Scheme, which is deducted straight from your pay. Giving direct from your pay is tax-free and the causes you care about benefit from your regular support.

Paid maternity/adoption leave

Staff who are eligible for statutory maternity pay will receive full pay for the first 22 weeks of their maternity leave, plus enhanced pay benefits.

Paid paternity leave

Staff who are eligible for statutory paternity pay will receive 10 days full pay, plus enhanced pay benefits.

Paid shared parental leave

We also offer the option of shared parental leave with enhanced pay, for eligible staff.

Paid parental leave

Staff who have worked with us for one year are entitled to one week's parental leave on full pay per year if they have one or more child under the age of eight. This is in addition to their annual leave entitlement.

Paid volunteering leave

Employees can request up to three days paid leave per year for volunteering.

Paid public duty leave

Staff may take up to 18 days paid leave per year to undertake public duties.

Unpaid career break

Staff with two years service can request an unpaid career break of up to 50 weeks every five years to undertake study leave, a sabbatical, volunteering, travel or to spend an extended period with their children beyond their parental leave entitlement.
