Full job description

Role Purpose

The Social Value Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, delivery, measurement, and communication of the organisation's social value commitments. Working across internal teams, clients, suppliers, and community partners, the role ensures that social value initiatives are effectively delivered, monitored, and evidenced in line with contractual commitments, organisational objectives, and community needs.

The Social Value Coordinator plays a key role in embedding social value into day-to-day operations by coordinating activities, collecting evidence, supporting stakeholder engagement, and helping the organisation demonstrate meaningful social, economic, and environmental outcomes. Working closely with the Social Value Lead, project teams, and senior colleagues, the Coordinator helps ensure social value is consistently delivered across projects and contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the delivery of social value commitments across projects, contracts, and business activities.
Support the implementation of the organisation's social value strategy and action plans.
Work with project teams to identify opportunities that maximise social value throughout project delivery.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, local authorities, schools, colleges, charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, and supply chain partners.
Coordinate volunteering activities, careers events, fundraising initiatives, educational programmes, mentoring opportunities, and community engagement projects.
Support the preparation of social value responses for bids and tenders by gathering information, evidence, and examples of previous delivery.
Collect, monitor, and maintain accurate records of social value activities and outcomes.
Gather evidence, case studies, testimonials, photographs, and performance data to demonstrate impact.
Monitor progress against contractual commitments and key performance indicators (KPIs), escalating any risks or issues where appropriate.
Produce regular reports, dashboards, and updates for clients, project teams, and senior management.
Support audit requirements, contract reporting, and accreditation processes by maintaining accurate documentation and evidence.
Work with suppliers and subcontractors to encourage consistent delivery of social value commitments across the supply chain.
Promote employee engagement in volunteering and community initiatives.
Share good practice and support continuous improvement across the organisation.
Ensure activities are delivered in accordance with organisational policies, contractual obligations, and relevant legislation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

An understanding of social value, community engagement, ESG, or corporate social responsibility.
Knowledge of public procurement and social value requirements is desirable.
Familiarity with recognised social value measurement frameworks such as the Social Value Model, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), TOMs, or Social Return on Investment (SROI) is advantageous.
Experience coordinating projects, community initiatives, events, or stakeholder engagement activities.
Experience collecting, analysing, and reporting performance data and evidence.
Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Confidence working with colleagues at all levels, clients, suppliers, community organisations, educational providers, and individuals from diverse backgrounds, including vulnerable or underrepresented groups.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using databases or reporting systems.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach to work.

Qualifications

Degree, qualification, or equivalent experience in Community Development, Business, Sustainability, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field is desirable.
Experience in social value, community engagement, CSR, ESG, project coordination, education, employability, or stakeholder engagement is advantageous.
