Full job description

Job Summary

Exvac Equipment Sales is looking for skilled and motivated HGV Fitters to join our team. This role is based in our vehicle workshop in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality maintenance and repair work while ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational. Working as part of a dedicated fleet team, you will play a key role in maintaining a range of HGVs and specialist vehicles, helping to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.

Safety, quality, and customer service are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who shares those values and is committed to delivering exceptional standards in every aspect of their work.

Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
Complete repairs efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
Perform MOT preparation and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
Use diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
Complete all maintenance documentation accurately.
Work safely in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
Ensure workshop equipment is maintained and kept clean.

Who We're Looking For

Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Fitter.
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or an equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred), or a completed apprenticeship.
Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Experience working on HGVs or specialist commercial vehicles.
Full UK Driving Licence.
HGV Licence (Class 2) advantageous but not essential.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Experience Includes

IRTEC accreditation or similiar
