Full job description

Hudson Gray Solicitors is a growing criminal defence practice committed to providing exceptional legal representation to clients at every stage of the criminal justice process. Due to our continued expansion, we are looking to recruit an ambitious and motivated Trainee Solicitor who is passionate about pursuing a career in criminal law.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a training contract within a busy and supportive criminal defence practice, where you will gain hands-on experience and work alongside experienced solicitors and duty solicitors.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates who:

Have completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or are currently undertaking it, with a genuine desire to secure a training contract; or
Have passed SQE1, SQE2, or both, or are currently studying towards either assessment, with a view to qualifying as a solicitor.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

A genuine interest in criminal defence law.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal English.
Good organisational and time management skills.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.

The Role

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to:

Assist solicitors with criminal cases from police station through to Crown Court.
Draft legal documents, correspondence and applications.
Prepare case files and review evidence.
Attend conferences with clients and counsel.
Observe and attend police stations and courts.
Develop practical advocacy and case management skills.
Work towards meeting the requirements of a solicitor training contract.
