Automotive Paint & Coatings Technical Manager
Location: Ash Lane, Tadley, Hampshire
Salary: £40,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Ready for Something Beyond the Traditional Bodyshop?
We are launching a new specialist automotive coatings business in the UK and are looking for an experienced automotive paint professional to join us at the very beginning of our journey.
As an official UK installer and distributor of the innovative CARDIP® Peelable Paint System, we will be introducing an exciting German-engineered coating technology to the UK automotive market.
This is not a traditional bodyshop management position.
We are looking for someone with extensive hands-on automotive paint and refinishing knowledge who wants the opportunity to take ownership of the technical side of a newly established business and grow with us as we build the brand in the UK.
You may already be a Technical Manager, Paint Shop Manager, Bodyshop Manager, Technical Trainer or Senior Paint Technician. Alternatively, you may be an exceptionally experienced automotive paint sprayer who is ready to take the next step in your career.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to become a key member of the business from day one and help shape how our technical operation develops.
What You'll Be Doing
This will be a varied, hands-on role combining technical leadership with practical automotive paint and coatings expertise.
You'll be responsible for:
- Becoming one of our leading UK technical specialists for the CARDIP® Peelable Paint System.
- Learning the system in depth through specialist manufacturer training and certification.
- Overseeing the application of peelable paint systems to complete vehicles.
- Establishing and maintaining exceptional application and finishing standards.
- Working hands-on with the product, particularly during the launch and development of the business.
- Supporting and training our paint sprayers and technical team.
- Developing application processes, workshop procedures and quality standards.
- Troubleshooting paint, coating and application issues.
- Providing technical advice and support to customers and professional installers.
- Demonstrating products and application techniques.
- Helping train and onboard future approved installers as our UK network develops.
- Working with the manufacturer on technical developments, new products and application methods.
- Supporting product demonstrations, trade events and industry exhibitions where required.
- Playing an active role in developing the technical side of the business as we grow.
Who We're Looking For
Above all, we're looking for someone who really understands automotive paint.
You should have strong practical experience within automotive refinishing, paint spraying, coatings or bodyshop operations and be confident discussing and demonstrating the complete preparation, application and finishing process.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Significant experience within automotive paint spraying or vehicle refinishing.
- Excellent knowledge of automotive paint systems, preparation, application and finishing.
- Strong knowledge of spray equipment and spray booth processes.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving paint or application problems.
- Experience spraying complete vehicles as well as individual panels.
- High standards of workmanship and exceptional attention to detail.
- The confidence to train, support and mentor other technicians.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to take ownership and help establish technical standards within a new business.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to travel within the UK when required.
You Don't Necessarily Need to Be a Technical Manager Already
We're interested in experience and technical ability, not just job titles.
If you're currently working as a:
- Senior Automotive Paint Sprayer
- Paint Shop Manager
- Bodyshop Manager
- Senior Paint Technician
- Automotive Paint Technical Trainer
- Paint or Coatings Product Specialist
- Automotive Refinishing Technician
- Technical Representative within the automotive paint industry
…and you're looking for an opportunity to progress into a senior technical position, we'd be very interested in hearing from you.
Experience with PPF, vehicle wrapping, custom finishes, prestige vehicles or specialist coatings would be advantageous but is not essential.
Why Join Us?
This is an unusual opportunity to join a newly established automotive business at the very beginning.
Rather than stepping into an existing role with established ways of working, you'll have the opportunity to help create the technical operation, influence how we work and become an important part of the company as it develops.
We offer:
- £40,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Specialist manufacturer training and certification.
- The opportunity to become a leading UK technical specialist in peelable automotive coatings.
- A hands-on role where your technical knowledge will genuinely influence the business.
- The opportunity to help develop and train a future UK installer network.
- Genuine career progression as the company expands.
- The chance to join at the beginning and grow with the business rather than simply fill an existing position.
Interested?
If you've spent your career working with automotive paint and coatings and feel ready for something different, we'd like to hear from you.
You don't need to have worked with peelable paint before – we're looking for excellent automotive paint knowledge, practical ability and the willingness to learn a new system. Specialist product training will be provided.
If you're an experienced paint professional who wants the opportunity to move into a senior technical role and help build something new in the UK automotive market, please apply with your CV.
