Full job description

Force Walkers Café & Terrace, Ambleside

Job Description:

Fixed-term contract (May – end of October 2026)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Kitchen Porter & Cafe Assistant to join our friendly team for the busy summer season. This is a varied role supporting both the kitchen and front of house operations within our fast-paced and popular café environment.

The successful candidate will be reliable, positive, and able to work efficiently as part of a team while helping us deliver excellent customer service and maintain high standards throughout the café.

Please note, there is no staff accommodation available.

Duties

Assist with washing dishes, kitchen equipment, and maintaining cleanliness within the kitchen areas
Support chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation when required
Keep customer and staff areas clean, organised, and well presented
Provide friendly and welcoming customer service
Assist with clearing tables, serving customers, and general front of house duties
Help maintain smooth daily operations during busy service periods
Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times
Work efficiently both independently and as part of the wider café team

Requirements

Previous hospitality or café experience is preferred but not essential
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and holidays
Understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards within hospitality environments

Pay: £12.80 per hour
