Tree Officer

We are looking for a Tree Officer to join our busy Planning and Development Team, located in the heart of the National Forest. You will play a vital role in safeguarding the District’s natural environment, providing expert arboricultural advice on protected trees and landscaping to the team and to customers. You will also have a caseload of tree-related applications. The role also offers the chance to help shape a vibrant and sustainable future for our communities through the protection and sustainable management of the natural environment. You need to have previous experience of working within a Planning Team in a local authority, a solid understanding of current planning legislation and policy relating Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and trees in conservation areas. A recognised qualification in arboriculture or similar to degree level or equivalent is required. You will need to be organised and able to prioritise your workload, communicate effectively and confidently and build and maintain good relationships with all customers. You will also need to be motivated, resilient, and capable of working under pressure to meet challenging deadlines, while also being a team player. If you’re someone who relishes a challenge, has the drive and enthusiasm to make a difference, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to have a meaningful impact on the National Forest and the landscape of North West Leicestershire.

36.25 hrs per week with a starting annual salary of £37,280 (pay award pending)
