Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive attitude. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in catering, food preparation, and kitchen operations within a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food assembly according to specified recipes and standards
Support the culinary team with food safety practices and hygiene protocols
Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and organising supplies
Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts
Help with the organisation of stock and storage areas to ensure efficient workflow
Serve meals to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment
Assist with catering events and special functions as required

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Basic cooking and meal preparation skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the kitchen setting
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
