Stewart Accounting Services is looking for a reliable and detail-focussed Bookkeeper to join our growing firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, keeping financial records accurate, and being part of a friendly, professional team.

We work closely with owner-managed businesses, limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, helping them gain clarity over their finances and make better business decisions. As our bookkeeper, you will support the client managers and your portfolio of clients across a range of industries, helping to maintain accurate financial records and ensure day-to-day bookkeeping tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities

As bookkeeper, your responsibilities will include:

Managing day-to-day bookkeeping for a range of clients
Processing sales and purchase invoices
Reconciling bank accounts and control accounts
Ensuring deadlines are met
Handling payroll processing where required
Maintaining accurate financial records using Xero cloud accounting software
Liasing with clients to request records and resolve queries
Assisting the client managers with year-end preparation, VAT returns and management reports

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

Experience in bookkeeping, ideally within an accountancy practice or small firm environment
Familiar with UK bookkeeping and VAT processes
Confident using Xero (preferred but training can be provided)
Highly organised, accurate, and able to manage multiple deadlines
Professional and confident when communicating with clients
AAT qualified or studying towards AAT would be an advantage, but is not essential
