Full job description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST _____________________________________________________________________

Our Community Café is at the Heart of Rotunda and from here we run important projects, events, and clubs, which are vital in supporting our local community. We are looking for people to prepare, cook and serve food to the community. We are a funded charity that provides nutritious food at affordable prices. We are open Monday to Friday from 8 am and close at 3 pm. Cashing up and cleaning that takes about an hour. This role will require you to work towards your Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 certificate and your Food Allergy Level 2 certificate.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES _____________________________________________________________________

Working with the cook to produce cost effective food menus with minimal waste
Supporting the organisation of clubs and events for the benefit of our community
Ensuring cleanliness & hygiene are adhered to in accordance with centre policy
Adherence to community health & safety policy including kitchen and cafe safety rules

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and able to work within the Rotunda Values. You will be self-motivated, use your own initiative to ensure that our customers and volunteers enjoy a bespoke positive experience. You must be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS _____________________________________________________________________

Experience of working in a busy cafe (D)
Safeguarding knowledge and experience (E)
Organisation of events (D)
An interest in supporting the local community and willing to support initiatives and events (E)
A team player who can multi-task (E)
Must be able to follow and provide instruction and guidance for Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations (E)
Partnership working with our community partners (E)
Highly organised, attention to detail, able to meet deadlines and work without supervision (E)
Ability to monitor and evaluate aspects of practice and provision and manage change (D)
To continue personal and professional development (E)
To supporting the diverse needs of our local community (D)
An understanding and personal commitment to the vision and values of Rotunda Ltd (E)

PERSONALITY & DISPOSITION _____________________________________________________________________

Ability to contribute to team working and to take lead role when necessary
Must have flexible attitude to daily routines and working hours
Ability to recognise opportunities to develop/promote/expand the provision offered by the College.
Must have calm, diplomatic approach on telephone and face-to-face meetings
Must have excellent one-to-one skills and be capable of adapting approach to meet the needs of a wide variety of situations
Commitment to equality of opportunities and safeguarding and a willingness to identify and pursue own training needs
