Synergy Hire Ltd is seeking a motivated and organised Hire Desk Controller to join our busy Letchworth depot.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business within the plant hire industry. Whilst previous hire industry experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong administrative skills and a willingness to learn.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, organisation and excellent customer service are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day on-hire and off-hire process, ensuring accurate and efficient administration of equipment movements.
- Process customer enquiries and hire requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Liaise with customers, drivers, workshop staff and depot personnel to coordinate hire activities.
- Assist the Depot Manager with administrative and operational tasks.
- Support Head Office departments with additional administration and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all hire documentation is completed correctly.
- Deliver excellent customer service and build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.
What We're Looking For

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, including confidence with data entry and administrative systems.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy.
- An interest in the construction, plant hire or related sectors.
- A proactive and professional approach to work.
- High personal integrity and a strong work ethic.
Desirable
- Previous experience within the plant hire, tool hire, construction or transport sectors.
- Experience in a customer service or administrative role.
