Due to continued growth, we are looking for a capable and dependable self-employed Property Maintenance / Multi-Trade Subcontractor to provide services across our customer properties and sites.
This opportunity suits someone with a practical background who enjoys varied work, takes pride in their work, and is confident working across different properties and sites.
The opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in maintenance, handyman work, facilities support, property repairs, construction, or general multi-trade duties.
About the Role
As a self-employed Property Maintenance / Multi-Trade Subcontractor, you will carry out a wide range of day-to-day maintenance, repairs, inspections, surveys and improvement works.
You will help keep customer properties, working areas and sites safe, tidy, organised and well maintained. The work is varied, so you should be comfortable moving between different types of jobs and locations.
Your Business Responsibilities
You will provide your own:
- Reliable vehicle suitable for travelling between jobs.
- Hand tools, power tools and trade equipment.
- Appropriate PPE and safety equipment.
- Public liability insurance and any relevant trade-specific insurance.
- Relevant qualifications, certificates and competency evidence for the work you undertake.
You will be responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, insurance, business costs and invoicing. CIS deductions will be made where legally required.
Main Duties
The role will include:
- Completing general repairs and property maintenance tasks.
- Carrying out practical handyman work such as painting, decorating, fixtures, fittings, doors, locks and basic repairs.
- Supporting basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and maintenance works where you have the right experience.
- Visiting properties and sites to check condition, identify issues and report required works.
- Completing job surveys and providing clear information for quotes or follow-up works.
- Keeping work areas, storage spaces and external areas clean, safe and organised.
- Moving materials, preparing work areas and supporting general site tasks.
- Reporting faults, damage, hazards or equipment issues to the Lowe Property Care contact.
- Following site-specific health and safety requirements.
- Communicating professionally with customers, tenants, contractors and Lowe Property Care contacts.
- Updating job information and keeping simple records of completed and outstanding works.
What We Need From You
The successful subcontractor should have:
- Experience in property maintenance, repairs, handyman work, facilities, construction or a similar hands-on role.
- Good practical ability and confidence using hand tools and basic power tools.
- The ability to work independently, manage your time and complete tasks efficiently.
- A reliable, punctual and trustworthy approach to work.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the standard of your work.
- Clear communication skills when dealing with customers, tenants and contractors.
- Basic IT ability to use job systems and update work records.
- The ability to carry out physical work, including lifting, bending, working outdoors and moving materials.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Clear DBS
- Willingness to travel to jobs across Essex, London and surrounding areas.
The Type of Person We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, organised and able to use their initiative. You should be able to spot issues, think practically and complete agreed work while keeping customers and Lowe Property Care updated.
This is a good opportunity for an experienced subcontractor looking for regular and varied maintenance work across different jobs, sites and locations.
Rates and Payment
Rates will be agreed based on experience, skills, qualifications and the type of work required.
Payment will be made against a valid invoice under agreed payment terms, subject to any required CIS deductions.

This is a self-employed subcontractor opportunity and not an employed role.
No company vehicle, company tools, paid annual leave, sick pay, pension contributions or employee benefits are provided. Nothing in this advert is intended to remove any statutory rights that may apply based on the actual working relationship.
Pay: £29,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
