Job Summary
Our family owned and run Company has operated in the motor industry for over 75 years. During this time we have won numerous manufacturer awards for our sales performance and customer service.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage and control the accounts for our franchised motor dealership in Thornaby on Tees. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts and manufacturer financial reports.
- Financial Analysis: Prepare, examine, and analyse financial statements and reports using accounting software such Pinnacle, and other relevant platforms. Provide commentary on financial results, analyse performance, and support management decisions.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and VAT, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date financial records in accordance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Team Leadership: Supervise an accounts and sales administration assistant
- Management Support: Communicate financial data to non-financial managers and help implement strategies for operational improvement.
- Working Capital: Monitor and manage working capital, including debt levels and inventory.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper financial management across the organisation.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong accounting principles knowledge, including regulatory requirements
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Prior experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, wages and VAT functions.
- Proven experience and proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel.
- Ability to work with high-value inventory and sales transactions.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with strong organisational skills.
Whilst prior experience of working in an accounts function within the motor industry would be a benefit, this is not essential.
