Self-Employed Electrician Wanted – SMC Electrical Ltd

SMC Electrical Ltd is looking for an experienced self-employed electrician to join our growing team.

We are a small, established electrical company based in the Horsham area, carrying out a range of domestic, commercial and light industrial electrical works across Sussex and Surrey. Most of our work is local to Horsham and the surrounding areas, although occasional travel may be required.

We are currently a team of 3 and are looking for the right person to support our continued growth.

Role

Self-employed electrician working on a mixture of electrical installation, testing, remedial works, small projects and general electrical works.

Typical works may include:

Domestic and commercial electrical installations
Commercial work in warehouses, offices, shops and similar premises
Consumer unit and distribution board upgrades
Testing, inspection and certification
Fault finding and remedial works
EV charger installations
Lighting, power and containment works
General electrical maintenance and installation works

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

JIB Gold Card
2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent
18th Edition wiring regulations
Proven commercial experience, including warehouses, offices, shops and similar environments
Own van and tools
Good knowledge of BS 7671
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Good customer-facing skills
Strong time management and reliability
High standard of workmanship and attention to detail

Experience installing EV chargers is desirable but not essential.

As this is a self-employed role, the applicant must be set up to work on a subcontract basis and should have their own transport, tools, UTR and relevant insurance.

Rate

£200 – £260 per day, depending on experience, qualifications and ability.

Area

Most work is based around Horsham, Sussex and Surrey, with occasional travel required depending on project location.
