Job Summary

Are you an experienced registered nurse passionate about ‘Growing and Developing’ our future workforce?

We have an exciting and unique position for a talented and motivated Senior Project Nurse to join our team, leading a portfolio of high impact programmes that directly support our Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) workforce and wider organisational priorities. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to influence workforce supply, retention, education, and experience across the organisation, working in close collaboration with Clinical Service Units (CSUs), system partners, and key stakeholders. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse and dynamic portfolio, ensuring delivery of safe, high quality, and inclusive programmes that support individuals entering and developing within care roles.

You will lead a dedicated team to recruit, induct, and support individuals who are new to care, ensuring a structured, compassionate, and effective transition into clinical teams. You will be required work clinically, supporting the Emergency Department (ED) and a range of ward areas and departments, particularly during periods of heightened demand such as winter pressures. This clinical engagement enables you to develop a comprehensive understanding of frontline services, ensuring that learning and development programmes are responsive, relevant, and grounded in current practice.

Your clinical expertise will be integral to the Workforce Development team, where you will lead on a defined portfolio, shaping and delivering education and training that supports workforce capability and patient care outcomes.

This is a full time permanent position 37.5 hours and you will be based at Josephs Well Leeds and expected to work cross site

What you will bring to the role

As a Senior Project Nurse in the Workforce Development Team, you will bring strong clinical leadership and project management experience to deliver high quality education programmes for unregistered staff. You will work collaboratively across services, lead teams, and use data, evaluation and evidence based practice to drive improvement, assure workforce development KPIs, and support service transformation within an inclusive environment.

You will bring to the role:-

Strong clinical and professional leadership with the ability to lead workforce development programmes and influence practice across multiple services.
Proven experience in workforce education and training delivery, including designing and implementing high quality learning programmes that support clinical competency and service needs.
Ability to lead and manage projects, delivering against agreed timelines, KPIs and workforce priorities, with a focus on measurable outcomes.
Expertise in supporting the development of unregistered staff, including Care Certificate, new to care pathways, and progression routes.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience of working collaboratively with clinical teams, education providers and external partners to deliver shared objectives.
Strong analytical and reporting capability, able to monitor performance, interpret data and provide assurance on workforce metrics and programme impact.
Commitment to evidence based practice and quality improvement, with the ability to lead audit, evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience of leading and developing teams, providing supervision, mentorship and professional leadership to educators and facilitators.
Demonstrable experience of leading vast recruitment cycles, supporting widening participation, inclusivity and respectful challenge.
