Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Blyth
An opportunity has arisen for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Team at Galliford Try.
Ideally, you will based in or around Newcastle and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
What you will be doing:
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to assist in the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project
We are looking for a Candidate that is looking to gain experience, develop their career and become a key part of the Site Team and Business Unit Commercial Team.
- Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
- Use the latest software tools to assist in the cost and value reporting to the business unit.
- Be involved in the procurement of Subcontract packages including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
- Produce Subcontract documentation for approval for packages procured.
- Administration of allocated subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and change management.
- Assist in the production and issue of commercial notices to Subcontractors.
- Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract
- Provide information to the Commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the Client.
- Liaise with operational and engineering staff
Collate and calculate information required to assist the Commercial team in the production and maintenance of a detailed ‘cost to complete’ including schedules of Subcontractor ‘liabilities’.

- Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
- Strong IT skills including Excel, Word
- Experience in Dealing with a range of sub-contract packages.
