Joseph Parr Limited is a long-established, independent builders' merchant serving trade customers and the public across the North West. We pride ourselves on delivering a fast, reliable, and professional service, supported by a dedicated team of experienced drivers, yard operatives, and branch staff.

We are currently looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join our friendly and supportive team.

The Role

As a Yard Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy builders' merchant yard. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient working environment while providing excellent service to customers and supporting colleagues across the branch.

Key Responsibilities

Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles safely and efficiently.
Picking and preparing customer orders accurately.
Assisting customers with collecting building materials and products.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised yard environment.
Receiving and checking incoming deliveries.
Stocking and replenishing products within the yard.
Following all health and safety procedures and company policies.
Supporting colleagues and contributing to the smooth running of the branch.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday. 7:30am - 5:00pm (including a one-hour lunch break).
Alternate Saturdays: 7:00am – 11:00am.

What We're Looking For Essential

A positive and hardworking attitude.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Ability to carry out manual handling duties.

Desirable

Previous experience working in a builders' merchant, warehouse, yard, or construction environment.
Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
Knowledge of building materials and products.
