Payroll & Bookkeeper (Part-Time)

About Us

Pharmplus Group is a growing independent pharmacy group operating community pharmacies across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Bookkeeper to support our finance function on a part-time basis.

This role is ideal for a highly organised individual who can independently manage payroll, bookkeeping and VAT returns across a small group of companies.

Key Responsibilities

Process monthly payroll for approximately 50–60 employees across multiple companies.
Manage pension submissions and HMRC payroll reporting requirements.
Maintain payroll records, including starters, leavers and salary amendments.
Complete bookkeeping for 3–4 group companies.
Reconcile bank accounts and control accounts.
Process supplier invoices and payments.
Prepare monthly management information as required.
Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns for 3–4 companies.
Liaise with external accountants regarding year-end accounts and financial queries.
Ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in payroll and bookkeeping.
Strong understanding of payroll legislation, pensions and VAT requirements.
Experience using Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll is essential.
Experience using Xero would be advantageous.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
