Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and motivated Qualified or Trainee Dental Nurse to join our busy and welcoming dental practice. This is a dual-role position combining chairside nursing duties with front-of-house reception responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide excellent patient care, support clinicians during treatments, and assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

This role is ideal for either:

A qualified dental nurse registered with the GDC, or
A trainee dental nurse currently enrolled on an approved dental nursing course

Previous dental reception experience is highly desirable

Dental Nursing Duties

Assist dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures
Prepare and sterilise instruments and treatment rooms in line with HTM 01-05 standards
Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
Provide reassurance and support to patients before, during, and after treatment
Ensure cross-infection control procedures are followed at all times
Monitor and maintain stock levels of dental materials and equipment
Take responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment

Reception Duties

Welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner
Manage appointment bookings and diary coordination
Answer telephone and email enquiries efficiently
Process payments and maintain patient confidentiality
Handle patient records and update practice management systems
Support with recalls, follow-ups, and administrative tasks
Assist in maintaining a smooth patient journey and positive patient experience

Qualifications

recognised qualification in dental nursing or actively undertaking training towards certification
Experience in patient care within a dental setting is desirable but not essential for trainees
Strong communication skills with the ability to reassure and inform patients effectively
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in IT systems used for record keeping and appointment management
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, to ensure clear communication with patients and team members
A caring attitude with a genuine interest in providing high-quality patient care

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

Calcot RG31 5DG: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
