Leisure Assistant – Haverhill Leisure Centre – National Minimum Wage

As a Leisure Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our members and customers. From lifeguarding our pools to maintaining cleanliness standards and assisting with equipment setup, you'll deliver exceptional customer service every day!

37 hours per week (average)

Rota

Week 1:

Mon - 09:00-15:30 Tue - 13:30-21:30 Wed - 13:30-21:30 Thu - Off Fri - Off Sat - 06:00-18:30 Sun - 07:30-18:30

Week 2:

Mon - Off Tue - 05:30-13:30 Wed - 05:15-13:30 Thu – 05:30-13:30 Fri – 05:15-13:30 Sat - Off Sun - Off

Key Responsibilities:

· Lifeguarding duties, including monitoring pool safety and responding to emergencies.

· Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility.

· Assisting with equipment setup and breakdown for various activities.

· Providing excellent customer service to enhance the overall experience for our guests.

Requirements:

· Responsible individual with a passion for working in leisure, health, and well-being.

· Prior experience is advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided.

· Strong commitment to safety and the well-being of others.

· Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

· National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is required.

Candidates without an NPLQ will have the opportunity to undergo full training after a successful swim test and interview.

Closing Date: 24th June 2026

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour

Application question(s):

Are you available to work your chosen vacancy on a year round basis (ie: not just in term time or school holidays)?
Do you hold a valid NPLQ? if no can you:

1) Jump or dive into deep water
2) swim 100metres continuously on your front and on your back
3) Tread water for 30 seconds
4) From the surface of the pool, dive to the bottom of the pool
5) swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
6) Climb out of the pool unaided (without the use of steps)
