Are you looking for a position with a future? Our GFab Manufacturing Facility in Greenock has a vacancy for a Mechanical / Building Services Engineer to provide mechanical support to the site Facilities team.
The successful candidate will assist in the operation of the site's mechanical infrastructure to ensure reliable and cost-efficient delivery of services to support all site activities.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be developed to become the system owner for various mechanical building services systems on site. He/she will be expected to be involved in all aspects and day-to-day activities of a busy Facilities department in a semiconductor manufacturing plant, including, but not limited to; plant operations, plant/system analysis, design review, problem solving, specification/procedure preparation, and project management.
Necessary Competencies: -
- Extensive working knowledge of most of the following systems and their ancillaries; supply air, ventilation & air conditioning; extract/local exhaust ventilation; pumped water systems.
- Further knowledge/experience of; cleanrooms; refrigeration; steam / hot water generation & distribution; compressed air: vacuum systems; effluent treatment, would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience of assessing plant condition and developing solutions to improve / replace. ie. Identify need, develop options, produce scope / tender documents, identify / assess contractors, review & understand tender returns/designs and ultimately manage installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Ability to understand and digest engineering drawings, design specifications and technical literature.
- Knowledge / experience of energy monitoring and targeting techniques, and an interest in developing energy saving opportunities would be a distinct advantage.
- Awareness of standards & best practices with respect to mechanical building services.
- Awareness and understanding of legislation relevant to mechanical building services plant and equipment, eg. lifting equipment, pressure systems, L8… etc
- At least a basic operational understanding of Building Management Systems
- Computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Office products.
- Competence in use of Autocad for the production / modification of CAD drawings (layouts, schematics, construction drawings… etc), would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills across a variety of levels and disciplines.
- Ability to identify priorities and manage multiple activities.
- Work well in a busy, close-knit team environment
Able to work with minimal supervision and guidance on a range of site works and small to medium sized projects.

You will receive day-to-day guidance / development from the Facilities Engineering Manager as required.
Qualifications/Experience
Ideally you will have a good degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering, however applicants with an HNC / HND and demonstrable experience will also be considered.
Competency in all or most of the above is highly desirable, however, on the job and external training will be provided as required to.
