Full job description

Overview:
A long established, family owned, award winning home and gift supplier are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their fast-paced finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is ideal for someone with strong numeracy skills and a keen eye for accuracy, who enjoys working with data and being a strong administrative support to the wider finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, including processing invoices in multiple currencies.

· Assist with preparing payment runs.

· Assist with bank reconciliations.

· High volume customer payment allocation and resolving allocation queries.

· Process credit card and cash expenses and maintain accurate VAT records.

· Be the first point of contact for employee expenses and credit card related queries.

· Respond to internal and external queries, ensuring the purchase ledger inbox is kept up to date and queries are responded to in a timely manner.

· Support the company audit process – gathering required information including copy invoices, POD’s and purchase orders.

· General administrative tasks including printing and filing.

Key Experience, Skills and Attributes:

· Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

· Strong organisational and time-management skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Good communication skills.

Beneficial but not essential:

· Minimum 1 year of experience in an accounts or finance role (preferred).

· Familiarity with accounting software and basic bookkeeping principles is an advantage.

Package:

Salary dependant on experience, 22 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, free car parking, canteen.

A modern, open and friendly office environment with a varied work day.

Hours of work - 38.5 hrs per week. Standard working hours - 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Friday.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £26,000.00 per year
