Taylormade Landscapes Contractors Ltd are one of the leading fencing, landscaping and grounds maintenance contractors in the Midlands. Established in 1993 and a directly employed workforce of 60 employees, we operate throughout the Midlands, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire in the new build construction and commercial industry suppling all types of fencing, landscaping and grounds maintenance
We are trusted partners of some of the UK’s major house building contractors including Barratt's, Persimmon, Avant, Miller, Countryside, Vistry Group, Lovell, Bellway, Shropshire Homes to name a few. We also carry out commercial contracts for Welcome Break Services, Staffs County Council, Amey, plus a number of other commercial clients.
We supply and install of general fencing, soft landscaping and grounds maintenance as well as providing new build show home design and install service
Due to continued growth of the business over the last 12 months, we are looking to add an experienced Contracts Manager to join our existing team.
Responsibilities & Duties
1. Operations - Ensure the company is adhering to, and exceeding, its Health and Safety objectives
2. Full responsibility for managing operatives, including discipline, hiring and maintaining strict daily installation/production/completion targets.
3. Regularly check and visit your allocated sites ensuring site expectations are met and managed ensuring relationships are built.
4. Check that operations/quality and maintenance is up to standard are work carried out is completed to the expected quality and timescales.
5. Reflow information, site plans and instructions are followed.
6. Identify any substandard work by carrying out site audit within 5 working days of any completed work. Identify any issues on Reflow and report any issues to the wider management team before the client reports it to us.
7. When carrying out site audits and booking in work you must ensure the information provided is clear and precise for both the planning team and the operatives
8. Ensure operatives are loaded and gone from the yard as soon as possible in conjunction with the yard supervisor
9. Ensure operatives are given clear instruction both on Reflow, verbally and via any message
10. Ensure operatives’ time is managed effectively; At the beginning and end of each day ensuring the correct number of hours are worked per day.
11. Ensure all planned work/plots are checked photographed and ready prior and Reflow updated prior to attendance
12. Produce updates on Reflow for all related plot work (as when required) brief operatives during the day on the tasks to be completed, answering any questions and addressing any issues raised by site or the operatives.
The main objectives of a Contract Managers role, building client relations, managing expectations and hitting site production targets, all work is ready prior to operatives attending site, ensuring site operatives are managed professionally, following HSE and safety guidelines, planned work run smoothly, installation is of a very high standard, all work is completed
Experience.
- CSCS Card Holder (essential)
- SMSTS qualified (preferred)
- A proven track record in leadership and contract management.
- A proven track record in planning, implementing and managing multiple projects spread over a number of sites
- Strong multitasking skills, the ability to prioritise, be organised and work to tight deadlines.
- Candidates will need to be comfortable and confident when attending senior management meetings and interacting with clients and suppliers.
- 3+ years managing contracts in the UK construction industry, ideally specialisng in fencing and/or soft landscaping delivery
- A proven track record in carrying out the responsibilities described.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Communication, presentation and negotiating skills.
- A working knowledge of with Microsoft Word, Excel & general computer skills required.
- An engaging, enthusiastic and pleasant personality with a professional demeanour.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and be able to problem solve.
- A willingness to adopt and work to Taylormade Landscape Contractors Ltd policies and procedures.
- Taylormade Landscape Contractors Ltd is a Uttoxeter based contractor and try to work within one hour’s drive from our head office however, on the odd commercial contract we travel further so the role does require a willingness to travel, including very occasional overnight stays as and when required.
