Gratton House Dental Practice is a mixed practice. We are based in a newly refurbished/purpose built 5 surgery practice in Cheltenham with modern facilities and equipment. We have an excellent local reputation and always strive to provide the highest standard of patient care.

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop into the rewarding role of Apprentice/Trainee Dental Nurse. Initially you will be gaining experience within the practice by providing decontamination and all-round administration support. After a successful period, you will be trained in nursing and enrolled onto the NEBDN course which is paid for by the dental practice. This course takes approximately 18 months.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone looking for a new career or could suit a bright and enthusiastic school or college leaver looking to gain experience of surgery life, spending time developing into the role. You will be fully supported and trained within the surgery, fulfilling general duties and then when you are ready, you will work alongside a nurse and a dentist who will assist in your training and development to become a Trainee Dental Nurse.

About You

Enthusiastic with a desire to learn new skills, you will be keen to take your first steps towards a fulfilling career. Ideally you will have a GCSE or equivalent in Maths, English and Science.

As part of your training, you are required to complete the NEBDN Nurses qualification which takes approximately 18 months and is funded by the practice, after which you will be a fully qualified Dental Nurse.

Duties

Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, ensuring all necessary instruments are prepared and sterilised.
Provide exceptional patient care by reassuring patients, explaining procedures, and addressing any concerns they may have.
Maintain accurate patient records and update information as required using dental practice management software.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
Manage appointment schedules and assist with administrative tasks as needed to ensure efficient practice operations.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
Collaborate with other dental professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients.

Skills

Proficient in English
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Competence in IT systems for managing patient records and scheduling appointments.
